CHOICE PROJECT

You finally get to pick any picture you want to draw, with a few minor stipulations. PLEASE  stay away from cartoon, symbols and logos.
Make sure whatever picture you want to draw you are able to print it out. You will need a printed copy and a saved color copy on your desktop

Once you have printed your picture you will need take a pencil and draw a 1 inch X 1 inch grid over your entire paper.

If you have a lot of dead space in your picture, I will cut it for you on the paper cutter.

Here is the trick to making your drawing proportional to your printed picture
EX. 24in X 18in    each number is divisible by 2
so you will create a 2 in X 2 in grid on your LARGE DRAWING  PAPER

Georgia O'Keefe

Today we will be looking at an artist by the name of Georgia O'Keefe.
Georgia was and American artist born on November 15, 1887 – March 6, 1986
She was born in Wisconsin. She was known for her large-format paintings of enlarged blossoms, presenting them close up as if seen through a magnifying lens.

Goal- Select a flower from the internet or a book that you would like to focus on as if looking through a magnifying glass. Once you have selected your flower you will use oil pastels to replicate that flower onto white drawing paper. After you have finished with your drawing you will use a paint thinner called turpentine to blend your oil pastel colors together on your paper. Do not worry if you loose some of the detail in the flower, once the turpentine dries you may go back in with more oil pastel
 I will be looking for:
proportionately drawn flowers
use of the whole sheet of paper
 blended your colors
more  added detail
