Elements of ART

ELEMENTS OF ART: The visual components of color, form, line, shape, space, texture, and value.

Today we are going to concentrate on

 As an element of visual art, line is the use of various marks, outlines and implied lines in artwork and design. A line has a width, direction, and length. A line's width is sometimes called its "thickness".

 On your paper I want you to take 2 minutes and draw as many different types of lines as you can. GO!

Take a look at these different drawing of lines , did you make any of these lines or did you have totally different types of line?

Different types of line combined create full forms or images.

 Look at the object on your table or take something you have in your pocket and place it in front of you.
Begin drawing it using this contour style. ( your pencil should not leave the paper)

Blind Contour
Each of your are going to be drawing a blind contour of either the object on your table or of something you had in your pocket.

Designing using line

DO NOT START DESIGNING IN THE CENTER!! REMEMBER NO "GOOD" COMPOSITION STARTS WITH THE FOCAL POINT IN THE CENTER.

Think about a theme or subject you would like ALL of your designs to relate to. Ex Ocean, garden etc...

Google Sketch Up

All of you are going to be acting as architects and designing your very own interactive space.

We are going to be using a program called Google Sketch Up to help turn our 2D flat drawing into a virtual space.

Here are some examples of interactive spaces you could design

* water park
* dog park
* skate park
*  playground
* tree house
* etc...

The first order of business is to draw a well thought out blue print of your architectural space. This needs to have complete detail!!
